SPESSARTINE “MANDARIN” GARNET
Spessartine garnet is known as the “Garnet of the Sun.” It is one of the rarer and lesser-known varieties of Garnet. Spessartine has an energizing warmth that radiates in a multitude of rich, warm shades. The name “Mandarin” is a trade name for the effervescent orange hue. Spessartine garnet was named after the Spessart district in Bavaria, Germany, where it was originally discovered. Nigeria is also well-known for its prized Spessartine. It exudes a vibrant, electric orange that glows. The Architect pendant featured here is Nigerian, and is of top color and clarity. Additionally, spessartine garnets have a remarkably high refraction of light, giving them exceptional brilliance. Garnet is the birthstone for January, and the gemstone for Aquarius. It is the gem for the 2nd, 15th and 19th anniversaries. Spessartine garnets have a hardness of 7.0-7.5, making them very durable for everyday wear with proper care. More about Garnet HERE
