BLACK STAR SAPPHIRE
Sapphire is one of the “big three” of jewelry colored gemstones, and comes in a multitude of colors, Sapphires captivate their audience with their durability, rarity and aura of romance. For centuries, sapphire has been associated with royalty. Traditionally, they symbolize nobility, truth, sincerity, and faithfulness. Some sapphires can show a very special phenomenon called asterism, or a star effect. This phenomenon usually appears as a six-ray star across a cabochon-cut stone’s curved surface. The star effect can be seen in ruby or any color of sapphire, and it arises from white light reflecting from numerous tiny, oriented needle-like inclusions. Sapphire is the birthstone for September, the gemstone for Taurus and Aquarius, and the gem of the 5th and 45th anniversaries.
