MINT GARNET
Mint Garnet is a green variety of garnet, cousins to the Tsavorite. It has a refreshing, soft mint color that reminds one of springtime. A handful of these garnets have a slight blue modifying color, which makes these gems even more outstanding and appreciated by the collector. Mint garnet was discovered in the 1980’s, in the pockets of tanzanite mines in the Merelani region of Tanzania. Gemstones over two carats in weight are uncommon and prized. Mint garnet is considered to be a very spiritual stone, bringing serenity and passion. Garnet is the birthstone for January, and the gemstone for Aquarius and Aries. It is the gem for the 2nd, 15th and 19th anniversaries. Mint garnets have fair to good toughness, and a hardness of 7.25-7.50. They require special care and are not suited for everyday wear. APATITE
Apatite is a naturally occurring mineral, and is quite an underrated beauty. It is scarcely known, but is a stone of intoxicating color that is highly prized by true collectors. Apatite comes in electric hues such as yellow and green, and a variety of other shades. One of the most prized shades is “neon blue”, rivaling that of another very rare and famous gemstone, Paraiba Tourmaline. Apatite is said to decrease hunger, and enhance unconditional love and insight. It is the gemstone for the zodiac sign Gemini, and has a hardness of 5.0. This gemstone requires special care and is not suited for everyday wear.
