TANZANITE (ZOISITE)
Tanzanite is one of the rarest gems on earth, and is the blue- violet variety of the mineral zoisite. Tanzanite is only found in one place on earth- Tanzania, and it was first unearthed in 1967. This is where its name comes from. These highly sought after gems come from an incredibly small mining area near the Mererani Hills. Tanzanite is said to facilitate a higher consciousness and stimulate perception and intuition. It is the gemstone for the zodiac sign Sagittarius. It marks the 24th wedding anniversary, and has a hardness of 6.5. This gemstone requires special care and is not suited for everyday wear. More about Tanzanite HERE
AQUAMARINE
Aquamarine is the green-blue to blue variety of the mineral beryl. Does beryl sound familiar? It should because Emerald is the green to bluish green variety of the same mineral. Aquamarine is the color of the ocean, with a wide variety of pastel blue hues. It has a name that is derived from two Latin words: aqua, meaning “water,” and marina, meaning “of the sea.” It has been said to give its wearer protection against enemies, and makes the wearer unconquerable. It also quickens intellect. Aquamarine is the birthstone for March, and the gemstone for Pisces and Aries. It is the gem for the 19th anniversary. Aquamarines have a hardness of 7.5-8.0, making them very durable for everyday wear with proper care. More on these incredible gems HERE.
