MAHENGE SPINEL

Spinel first appeared in historical records of fourteenth-century Spain, and has since been confused with many gems, including Ruby. As a matter of fact, the famous 14th century Black Prince’s Ruby in the British Imperial Crown is actually a red spinel, not a Ruby. Some of the most sought-after spinel was found in 2007 in Mahenge, Tanzania, and has an incredible hot pink glow. Spinel is a colorful, natural gem that has recently been inducted as an August birthstone. It is also the gem for the 22nd anniversary, and is believed to encourage great passion, devotion and longevity.
