FIRE OPAL
True to its name, this gemstone was born from fire. Fire Opal is created when water seeps into silica-rich lava in depths of ancient volcanoes. Because of its spectacular play of color, it is considered a stone of magical powers. Fire opal is known to symbolize love, truth, hope and joy of the heart. Unlike most other opal, fire opal is often faceted, allowing the stone to sparkle and display its legendary sunburst. Opal is the birthstone for October, and the gemstone for Gemini. It marks the 14th wedding anniversary, and has a hardness of 6.5-7.50. Because of its softness, fire opal should be set in a protective mounting. It is not recommended for rings. Like all opal, fire opal has a high water content. As a result, it should be protected from intense heat and prolonged exposure to strong light, which could dry the gem out. More about Fire Opal HERE
